Chimpanzee Trekking — Kyambura Gorge

Mountain Gorilla Trek — Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

The centrepiece of the journey. After a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — a UNESCO World Heritage Site sheltering nearly half the world's remaining mountain gorillas. Spend one unforgettable hour with a gorilla family in their natural habitat. The trek can last 2 to 6 hours. An extra night nearby to rest and soak in the experience.

Rest & Relaxation — New Year's Eve

A gentle day to recover and take in the surroundings. Two options: stay at Mutanda Lodge and enjoy a peaceful boat cruise on Lake Mutanda through papyrus channels and island views — or drive to Kinigi Cottage near Volcanoes National Park and rest amid the volcanic highlands. Ring in the New Year surrounded by the forests of Central Africa.

Volcanoes NP → Kigali Day 08

Dian Fossey Tomb Trek & Return to Kigali

Cross back into Rwanda to Volcanoes National Park, where rangers lead a hike through bamboo forest to the tomb of Dian Fossey — the primatologist who dedicated her life to gorilla conservation. Wildlife may be spotted along the trail. After the hike, drive back to Kigali and check in for your last night in Rwanda.

Kigali Day 09
Sat 02 Jan 2027

Kigali — Genocide Memorial & Craft Market

A morning to explore Kigali at your own pace. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial — a profoundly moving tribute and one of the most important historical sites in Africa. Browse the city's craft markets for artisanal souvenirs before transferring to the airport for your international flight home.
